The Backstory

Why I do what I do…the behind the scenes reason to why I left a world dominated by Insurance Companies

Hey there! Let me introduce, or reintroduce myself, to you. My name is AJ, Physical Therapist, Sports Performance Coach, Husband, and Father.

Currently, I have the pleasure of helping the motivated get out of pain, and get back to the things they love (including helping golfers achieve peak athleticism). I no longer take directions from someone behind a desk at an insurance company, telling me what I can- and cannot do… (just sounds crazy doesn’t it?)

What a lot of people don’t know, is that the medical system we rely on is heavily influenced by financial algorithms, old school guidelines, and shareholders in big corporations.

By breaking away from the system, I can provide the best of the best treatment options, without being restricted by someone without a license.

So what do I actually do?

Physical Therapy can be confusing. Some people think I only help out at nursing homes, or give massages, or tape ankles. The true answer is I actually get to do a whole lot. The primary emphasis of how I practice is:

  1. Reset the System for Pain- This means I focus on various areas of the body via hands on work and exercise to reduce and eliminate pain ( backs, shoulders, knees, ankles, wrists I do it all!)

2. Rebuild- This is where we take that same injured area (and the rest of the body) and restore movement patterns and build strength. Strength looks different for everyone. We make deposits into the bank of proper form so you never drain your account with poor patterns.

3. Synergize- We put all the pieces together into a blueprint to get you back to prime performance. This encompasses workouts, lifestyle changes, nutrition and sleep habits, that are NECESSARY for long term success.  Insurance companies usually put their foot down before this. They don’t believe in getting you past the point of “near baseline” (cue the eye roll…)

Time is of the essence for most. I don’t waste your time, so you don’t waste mine ( I have 2 little rascals at home!). The goal isn’t to see you 2x a week for the rest of your life ( Im sure a lot of you know what I mean here)

AJ is a world class physical therapist who is extremely gifted in communication and orthopedics. His knowledge of golf adds another layer of skill that helps golfers not only stay in the game, but also perform better. Cannot recommend enough!

I came to AJ at Siergiej PT and Performance after being frustrated with the level of care I received at two other physical therapy locations after knee surgery. AJ is not your typical “run of the mill” physical therapist who is turning out patients by the number and is hoping to keep you as a patient for as long as possible. He wants you to get better and it shows through his treatment style. He’s detail oriented and each session is individually monitored by AJ himself. His working knowledge of the body and it’s movements allows him to build a program that forces your body to break through barriers and current limitations of your injury. His sessions are tough, but he’s with you the entire time to push and guide you so you can move how your body is supposed to correctly move.
